Artists 303 is a group of professional West Country artists
who hold exhibitions together. The Group was founded in Ilminster in
1965 by artists living and working in towns and villages near the A.303
road with stated aims of:
"promoting the work of members in exhibitions;
“encouraging members to maintain a progressively creative and
serious approach to their work;
"supporting the cause of the visual arts."
Membership is restricted to fifty artists and entry is by election
only following submission of work at the Group’s A.G.M. and other
times decided on by the Committee. In this way the Group has maintained
its standards over the years and continues to enhance its reputation.
The strength of Artists 303 lies in the diverse disciplines of painting,
printmaking and sculpture. This blend of work makes an exciting exhibition
and generates a lot of interest because the subjects range from abstract
to traditional. The images produced by this contemporary and vibrant
group are both imaginative and energetic, creating an exhibition which
has something for everybody. The Group mounts at least two self-curated
exhibitions a year.
